- Led consulting engagements with finance firms to deliver the FCA’s Consumer Duty. A key element of the work was to deliver good outcomes for consumers and avoid expensive, time-consuming, and potentially risky compliance-led approaches.
- Led negotiations with top global tech firms, DSIT, DCMS, National Crime Agency and Ofcom, to reach agreement with the tech firms to introduce 39 changes to their processes to reduce the ability of fraudsters to operate. Read more here.
Transport
- Introduced the Zero Emission Vehicle mandate, requiring car manufacturers to sell 80% zero emission vehicles by 2030. Led negotiations with the motor industry to ensure it is implementable. Read more here.
- Oversaw the roll out of electric charging points across the UK, working with charge point operators, OEMs, motorway service operators, electricity companies, local authorities and OfGem. Doubled the number of charge points in two years. Read more here.
- Passed the Automated Vehicles Bill, establishing the legal and regulatory framework for self-driving cars in the UK. Worked with AI firms and road safety groups to ensure the regulation encourages innovation and investment while enhancing road safety. Read more here.
- Legislated the Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) mandate, requiring airlines to use 10% SAF by 2030. Negotiated the legislation with suppliers and airlines. Read more here.
- Led negotiations to arrange finance for the Northern Line Extension to Battersea through tax increment financing – the first TIF project in the UK. Helped arrange finance for construction of the Elizabeth Line. Read more here.
